Unique Staycation Destinations in the UK

Even though last year didn’t quite go as planned with many of our travel plans being put on hold, that doesn’t mean this year has to be the same. If last year taught us one thing it was how wonderful staycations can be. Having a great holiday doesn’t always mean you have to cross an ocean, there are many wonderful, unique destination all within the UK.

Seren Bach and Seren Mawr Luxurious Glamping Domes

If you want to sleep under the stars, without actually sleeping under the stars, then these glamping domes are perfect. You can fall asleep looking at the beautiful starry sky and wake up to the breath-taking views of the Brecon Beacons, all from the comfort of your own bubble. In the day you can explore the lovely countryside or the villages surrounding the domes and then spend your evenings keeping warm in the wood-fired hot tub or by the fire pit gazing at the stars.

The domes are fully equipped with your own small kitchen, that has everything you need to create some delicious meals during your stay. There’s also a wood-burning stove and insulated floors so you don’t need to worry about keeping warm. Each dome is lit with solar-powered lanterns, which creates a lovely ambience in the evenings. This is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life and just have a relaxing stay playing cards with your loved ones, reading or just simply unwind.

Bertrams Double Decker Bus

Ever thought about spending the night in a fully kitted out double-decker bus? No? Then you’re missing out. Located in the grounds of Fosfelle Country House, this original London double-decker bus has an authentic 1950’s design with an added cosy feel. On the upper deck, you’ll find a roomy living area, complete with a working vinyl record player, a 1950’s radio and don’t worry of course a TV. Also, on the upper deck, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, perfect for cooking up a feast. At the back of the bus, you’ll find the master double and a single bed complete with a curtain for privacy. Downstairs you have the shower and bathroom, along with a comfy seating and bar area.

One of the best things about this unique destination is that it is complete with a mystery to solve – guess the thirteen Agatha Christie book titles from the book titles and clever clues dotted around the bus. You’ll also have your very own garden, complete with furniture to enjoy some time in the fresh air. We recommend taking some time to stroll around the grounds, meet the free-roaming alpacas and say help to the pygmy goats, miniature donkeys and rare-breed chickens.

Treetop Treehouse

Get away from the stresses of everyday life and enjoy some time up in the trees relaxing in your very own treehouse Situated in Devon, you’ll find a multi-storey palace in a huge ancient oak – a truly unique experience. As you enter the treehouse, you’ll be welcomed by a lovely wood burner and a comfy sofa, upstairs you’ll find the king-size bed and downstairs there is a huge copper bath, to soak all your worries and stresses away. You also have a kitchen equipped with everything you need to cook whatever you fancy, there is also a barbecue on the outside deck.

One of our favourite features of this treehouse is the secret cubby hole on the deck which is fitted with bean bags to sink into while you watch the sunset on the fishing lake and the trees of Heywood Forest.
