The Best Theme Parks to Visit this Summer

The Best Theme Parks to Visit this Summer

Whether you’re in charge of a family day out or are looking to coordinate a school trip – the UK has some fantastic theme parks to suit any party. Read on to find out more about our favourite theme parks.

For the thrill seekers

As the UK’s most thrilling theme park, Thorpe Park is sure to satisfy an adult group of thrill seekers. Based 20 miles from central London, the park features the UK’s only winged coaster and, if you’re feeling brave, why not step onboard SAW - The Ride, the world’s first horror themed roller coaster featuring a 100ft “beyond-vertical” drop.

On a hot day, Tidal Wave is the one for you. You won't be saying “I didn’t even get wet” with it’s super-soaking 85 ft drop.

For family fun

If you’re looking for fun for all the family, why not check out LEGOLAND or Chessington World of Adventures (or both!)

Not only does Chessington have 10 lands and a selection of fun but not-too-thrilling rides it’s also got a Zoo! A zoo next to a theme park… mind-blowing right?

At LEGOLAND, kids from 3 to 12 years old looking for adventure will love it. With rides, shows and attractions inspired by popular LEGO and DUPLO brands, it’s a must for any budding builder.

For a bit of both

If you’ve got a mixed group Alton Towers might be the best one for you. With thrilling rides such as Rita, Nemesis and Galactica there’s also some stunning scenery in the gardens for those who prefer a slower pace. The little ones will be happy too, as there's a whole section of the park to enjoy to themselves with CBeebies Land.

If you’re heading to Alton Towers, make sure to wear your comfiest shoes, you’ll cover thousands of steps walking around – it’s truly vast!

Bonus choice!

As proud Derbyshire dwellers, we’ve got to include one of our personal favourites Gulliver’s Kingdom in Matlock Bath. Now located across the country, the original Gulliver’s holds a special place in our heart.

With small-sized rides perfect for little ones, it's sure to keep them entertained. Watch out though, it's located on a very steep hill... so be prepared.
